New Hope Surfaces for some infected Allegheny ash trees
Given a death sentence in January, some Ash trees in Allegheny county have been granted a stay of execution. With the help of residents, business, and state and federal government officials, ash trees falling prey to the invasive emerald ash borer might live beyond next year. People donated nearly $30,000 to pay for injections of TREE-age- pronounced triage- to treat 158 of the city’s 356,000 ash trees, said Phil Gruska, director of park management and maintenance with the Pittsburgh parks conservatory.
