Iowa preparing for tree-killing insect
OTTUMWA,IOWA — UPDATE: KTVO spoke with Arborist Jeff Palmer from Arborjet. He said there are alternatives to cutting down ash trees to avoid the Emerald Ash Borer; which is what the Iowa Department of Natural Resources recommended. The most cost -effective method is giving the ash tree a trunk injection treatment. The injection costs $50-$150 depending on tree size; and lasts two years. Palmer says cutting down ash trees can cost over $1,000 and that the trees serve a major purpose.
