Gurnee decides to treat, rather than remove infected trees, chemical option is cheaper
If the village had followed the lead of other municipalities removed infested ash trees,they would have spend between $1.2 million and $1.5 million.Instead, the village spent about $30,000 treating about 3,000 ash trees with a chemical containing emamectin benzoate. The product, TREE-age, is manufactured by Massachusetts-based Arborjet.
