Day 5 on the 2015 STIHL Tour des Trees with Robert Gorden

tourdestrees_blog

Robert Gorden, Arborjet’s Director of Urban Forestry & Business Development and rider on this year’s Tour des Trees takes the reins updating us on the weeklong, 500-mile cycling event. Today’s ride took the cyclists 87 miles from Ft. Myers Beach to Everglades City.

Atypical Timing

This ride is typically performed in conjunction with the International Society of Arboriculture event in the summer, but was delayed, because it was taking place in Florida. During the ISA in Kissimmee this summer, the temperature was in the 90’s with high humidity.

Challenging Conditions

IMG_20151028_182614575_HDR(1)Currently, in south Florida, summer is not over, and this makes for more challenging biking. Yesterday it was in the mid 80’s, with humidity at least of 80%. So, while some riders are from down here, for many, it adds to the challenge.
