Volunteers to plant trees in Midland parks
Volunteers will help plant 300 trees in various City of Midland parks to help replace those lost to emerald ash borer damage. Karen Murphy, Midland Public Services director, said 100 volunteers will plant the trees in Emerson, Chippewassee, Stratford and other parks. The Dow Chemical Co. is supporting the project with a $25,000 grant. Murphy said the company approached city staff about ways to help the community respond to the ash borer infestation, which is killing ash trees throughout the city.
