Why Stem or Trunk Injection
In keeping with good Integrated Pest Management Practices, Stem or Trunk injections typically use the least amount of possible tree pesticide with the greatest amount of control. Stem or trunk injection can be applied in environmentally sensitive areas like schools, parks, playgrounds and near waterways. Pesticide injections can be scheduled in the rain or when its windy. They can be done in acive areas like golf courses or park area without scheduling conflicts. In addition, you don't have the cost and risk associated with heavy capital equipment. A tree injector can fit all they need to treat a 90 foot tree in a Mini Cooper or on the back of a bicycle.
Arborjet's systems are pressure assist devices that are designed to apply "on the go". Product can be applied hole to hole or through an interconnected set of tubes that assure your tree gets treated timely without the need to relocate equipment during the treatment process. Perhaps most importantly, our Arborplug allows you to seal the systemic pesticide in the trees vascular system allowing you to apply the minimum required dose with the fastest time to target.
Removal - Trees provide shade and wind breaks which offer comfort and reduce energy costs. They retain storm water runoff to reduce city water treatment needs and they sequesture carbon improving air quality. These savings have a very tangeable value. Removal and replacement is also typically 10 - 15 times the cost of treatment and you don't have the tree?
Tree Spray - Sprays are horribly inefficient not to mention the scare spraying brings to neighbors. Tree spray cannot be used when it's about to rain or when it's windy nor can it be applied in active areas. Tree spray also lacks longer term protection and cannot effectively control pests that work under the bark.
Soil Injections - Soil injections similar to sprays require 7 - 30 times the amount of pesticide active ingredient than stem injections, and as much as 4000 times the amount of contaminated volume applied to the soil. In addition, soil applications work slower and typically provide a lower level of control. Finally, due to environmental risks, soil applications are limited to where they can be applied and how much can be applied in an area.
Cambial injections - Cambial injections are placed just under the bark. There are several issues with the placement of these products. First, the cambium is not the transportive tissue that brings nutrient and water throughout the tree. Additionally, it is a particularly sensitive area which we consider the embryo of the tree, where bark grows on one side and sapwood grows on the other. Finally, because of these issues, only very small doses can be applied. These small doses have been proven to lack the acheived with the Arborjet system. Caps - Caps are convenient to purchase with no need for equipment. Unfortunately, these products lack the consistent pressure required to quickly and consistently maintain uptake. Frequently, a given tree will have caps that did not empty. These caps must be pulled and re-deployed elsewhere in the tree to gain uptake for a particular Cap or Caps that did not deploy in their original hole. This takes extra time and may expose the applicator to the pesticide. Disposal of the Caps is also an issue with as many as 400 caps requiring disposal on any given day. Finally, without an Arborplug, an open wound could accelerate infection
