Peter Wild - Founder and CEO of Arborjet, Inc.
As founder and CEO, Peter was the inventor of the Arborjet infusion tool. Arborjet has since evolved in response to the many insect pests and diseases plaguing the urban forest. Peter set out to update and rewrite the standard for trunk injection after discovering that the current injection techniques were inconsistent and injurious.
Peter is also the owner of Boston Tree Preservation, an organic-based tree care business founded in 1977; as well as one of the first to develop and use vermicomposting for fertilization, disease and insect pest management. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Peter is a member of the Massachusetts Arborists Association, Tree Care Industry Association, International Society of Arboriculture, and Chairman of the Winchester Town Forest Committee. Peter is a true forerunner in the industry, passionately trying to preserve and protect the urban forest. His successes deal with all aspects of insect, disease, soil and adverse weather management of the urban forest. Since inventing the Arborjet technology, Peter has consulted with royalty and officials in the UAE on the Date Palm Weevil problem in the Mideast, with apple orchard owners in Turkey about organic farm management, and leading experts on the Emerald Ash Borer, Asian Longhorned Beetle, Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, and Mountain Pine Beetle infestations in the US.
Russ Davis - President and Chief Operating Officer
Russ Davis is the Chief Operating Officer for Arborjet Inc. Russ has an extensive background in operating technology businesses with a passion for environmental stewardship. At Arborjet, Russ is active in all phases of the business including strategic planning, marketing, product development, engineering, field trials and operations. Over the past few years, Russ's goal has been to emphasize Arborjet's position as an innovative and responsible leader in the industry. During this time, Arborjet has been able to expand its line of user friendly products at an affordable price while increasing awareness and education throughout the USA. Thanks in large to Russ's leadership, Arborjet has established itself as the most innovative company in the industry with products that are recognized as safe, affordable and effective.
Prior to Arborjet, Russ was the President of a $200M division of ITT Industries with business operations in 5 countries. He has traveled extensively to over 30 countries to form partnerships and manage offshore operations. While at ITT, Russ was also recognized for his environmental stewardship when he was a recipient of an ITT Presidents Award for environmental sustainability. This award is given to only three individuals or teams out of 34,000 employees worldwide. Russ has a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, an MBA in International Management and he has studied at the Ashridge Business School in the United Kingdom. Russ is a member of the Merrimack College Advisory Board and is a network partner with Bunker Hill Capital in Boston. Russ has a wife and two children and they reside in Northeastern Massachusetts.
Joseph Doccola - Director of Research and Development
Joe is an ISA Certified Arborist and Plant Health Care specialist with over 30 years experience in the horticultural and arboricultural field. Joe was educated at Cornell University in Plant Sciences and the New York Botanical Garden in Horticulture, and has worked in commercial, residential and public settings. His focus shifted to Plant Health Care in the management of Prospect Park, New York, where he designed proactive programs to manage the 526-acre collection of stressed urban trees. Joe has developed research methods for Arborjet technology and works with universities, the USFS and private entities in studies to manage invasive and destructive tree pests. He has co-authored publications of research on invasive tree pests such as the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, Emerald Ash Borer and Winter Moth.
Rob Gorden - Director of Urban Forestry & Business Development
In his current role, Rob provides training and support to municipalities and industry leaders who are evaluating treatment options for invasive pests across the country.
He has worked with city councils, public officials, arborists, and other stakeholders to identify and address practical and financial considerations when weighing treatment options against the removal of urban forest trees and has presented at over 100 meetings in 18 states in the last three years.
Rob has enjoyed 30 years in the green industry including sales and sales management, horticultural education and training, specification, and operations management with companies such as Lesco, RainBird, and Chemlawn, among others.
He was a certified Arborist in the State of Connecticut and has held pesticide licensure in 6 states. He is a certified instructor in the State of NY. While in distribution, he managed 18 Lesco stores which serviced the green industry. Rob has gained practical experience against a diversity of plants, pests, and environmental situations throughout the country while developing an appreciation for the political implications of urban forest management.
His undergraduate work in Pre-Med was performed at Providence College and his graduate studies in Forestry occurred at Auburn University. A native of Rhode Island, Rob has lived in 6 states while enriching his educational and professional opportunities, and now resides in western Massachusetts.
Eric Bristol - Marketing Manager
Joined the Arborjet team in November of 2003.
Eric holds a BS in Biology with a Chemistry minor, and a MBA from Babson College. Eric has worked as an applicator in organic landscaping and has contributed to the research and development of Arborjet's trunk injection equipment and formulations. Eric was the Research and Development Supervisor from 2003-2005, Operations Manager from 2006-2009 and now holds the title of Marketing Manager.
Eric is passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship and he promotes Arborjet tree injection as the new standard in urban tree pest control. He believes in spreading the message about the economic importance of protecting community trees. National Tree Benefit Calculator. Eric rode in the Tour des Trees, he runs marathons, skis, and loves the outdoors. He ran the 2011 Boston Marathon in 3:21.
Sean Facey - Strategic Accounts & Support Services Manager
Like many in the arboriculture industry, Sean's involvement with trees began when he was very young. Sean gravitated toward one of the largest national tree companies recruiting for summer help and took a job as a tree climber in the summer of 1982. He attended the University of Massachusetts, studied journalism with a minor in political science, and obtained a Bachelor's degree in 1986. Since then, Sean has worked as a freelance writer, a restaurant manager, and even launched two service companies while mantaining a relationship with trees.
While living in Winchester, MA, Sean met Peter Wild and began working for his tree company, Boston Tree Preservation. Sean climbed and pruned the large, mature tree population which provides the upscale suburban town much of its character. As Sean continued his education, he earned a Master's degree in 1996 in Science in Public Affairs and began working for the MA State Legislature. He kept in touch with Peter Wild through the years and received a call to be a part of the Arborjet team in 2001.
Once again, Sean finds himself working with trees which play a huge role in providing personal and professional enjoyment. Applying his skills in arboriculture, entrepreneurship, public policy, and international sales management, Sean dedicates himself to Arborjet and the preservation of the natural and urban forests.
Joe Aiken - Midwest Regional Technical Manager
Joe's current duties include technical support and sales to Arborjet National Accounts, Distributors, and Plant Health Care professionals through out the United States. His activities include both classroom and hands-on field training of Arborjet's revolutionary, effective and environmentally sound tree injection systems and formulations.
He routinely conducts product seminars and presentations on various treatment methods and their effectiveness at protecting trees from invasive and damaging pests. Presentations are attended by arborists, city foresters, plant health care technicians, master gardeners, university extension agents, grounds departments, and research personnel.
He also supports Arborjet's research department and co-operating universities, assisting with tree injections on research sites, and other various aspects of research required to aide in development of equipment and formulations needed to control today's invasive pests.
His 20-plus years in the tree care industry have provided a diverse and valuable experience which has permitted him to guide others in plant health care decisions. He has worked in all phases of tree care from ground support to tree pruning, production tree removal to management.
As a licensed applicator and a ISA certified arborist, he developed a strong interest in Plant Health Care and gained the experience and desire to continue his education and this lead to his current position at Arborjet.
Joe has been with Arborjet for seven years, where he shares his strong belief in tree preservation with clients, and educates others on the benefit of safer, more environmentally friendly solutions for our urban forest problems.
JB Toorish - Southeast Regional Technical Manager
JB started his career in the green industry in 1980 working for a landscaping company in the Cleveland, Ohio area. JB started as a lawn technician and eventually managed the lawn care and tree/ornamental care departments while developing IPM (Integrated Pest Management) programs. In 1995, JB started working for the Davey Tree Expert Company as a sales and service technician. He graduated from The Davey Institute of Horticultural Sciences and The Davey Institute of Tree Sciences in 1997.
In July of 1997, JB started with LESCO/JDL as Manager of Technical Services. There, JB's duties included daily agronomic and pest control support to internal and external customers. He held pesticide dealer/applicator licenses in over 30 states and routinely performed educational training presentations for CEU credits.
JB started with Arborjet in April of 2009 as the Southeast Regional Sales Manager. He is currently living in Orlando, Florida and providing sales and technical support for the southeast region of the United States.
JB has created and facilitated chemical applicator re-certification training presentations for many states throughout the U.S. JB has also written technical information for various industry text books, internal news letters, websites and a monthly technical column for Lawn and Landscape Magazine.
Jeff Palmer - Upper Midwest Regional Technical Manager
Jeff’s role is to expand sales, provide technical support, and share plant health care solutions with customers in the Midwest area. Jeff has been in the green industry for 23 years and has been involved with identifying, diagnosing and providing solutions for urban landscape and forest issues for much of that time.
After graduating from the highly acclaimed School of Forestry at the University of Minnesota Jeff immediately went to work on urban landscapes working as a Horticulturist for Chemlawn. He quickly went on to provide technical solutions to particularly difficult landscape problems and then managed the Tree and Shrub Care division in the Twin Cities area. He went on to operate his own landscape maintenance business offering a variety of services. More recently he has worked in distribution of a wide variety of green industry products for a horticulture distributor in the Midwest.
He has been in this business long enough to see the evolution of formulations and public sentiment toward “safe” but effective solutions and is firmly committed to providing practical solutions in an environmentally friendly manner. Jeff resides in the suburbs of the Twin Cities and enjoys the outdoors whenever he has free time.
Dawn Ranchie Fluharty - Northwestern Regional Technical Manager
As Northwestern Regional Sales Manager, Dawn Ranchie Fluharty will be heavily focused on the Northern California and Colorado markets and will also have responsibility for Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and parts of Nevada. Dawn holds a B.S. degree in Environmental Horticulture Science and a minor in Soil Science. She has worked in Nursery production and in sales as a key account manager for Wal-Mart and Lowes. Dawn also held outside sales positions supporting Home Depot, Orchard supply and Ace Home Centers.
Lee Mangum - Southwestern Regional Technical Manager
In his new position, Lee Mangum will focus his outreach in the Southern California market and in addition be responsible for Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and parts of Nevada. Lee holds a B.S. in Parks Administration and holds his applicators license. He has worked both as a sales professional has spent time as a golf course superintendent, was the Director for the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program at Audubon International and most recently, operated his own landscaping business in Temecula, California.
